Job Summary :

The person hired for this position will be responsible for leading development and deployment of technologies in ASD world-wide. Individual will lead major technical projects and cross-functional teams in a global manufacturing environment, supporting Disruptive Technology advancement, new capital investments, manufacturing scale-up and new product introductions. The person hired for this position will collaborate effectively in a global, cross-functional environment working closely with our ASD Laboratory, ASD Business Team, and Global Manufacturing sites to continuously improve business results. Travel will be required.

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

·  Developing and implementing Disruptive Manufacturing Technologies globally.
·  Leading NPI, Cap Ex, and Process Improvement projects for ASD Manufacturing.
·  Leading and implementing Division Source of Supply strategies globally including Technology Transfer.
·  Identifying and implementing Cost Out opportunities globally.
·  Partnering with NTI Teams, including Corporate Process Labs and the ASD Laboratory Group to develop and implement Disruptive Technologies in Manufacturing.
·  Collaborating with and mentor Global Manufacturing sites on Process/Product Improvement.
·  Leading global cross-functional teams and implement programs involving significant manufacturing emphasis and major business impact.
·  Developing as a Manufacturing Technical Expert for Abrasives Manufacturing Technologies.
·  Willingness to meet global responsibilities with teleconferences and travel.
·  Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:  

·  Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
·  Minimum of two (2) years combined project engineering, process engineering, manufacturing engineering, manufacturing technology, product development, and/or research laboratory experience in a private, public, government or military environment

Preferred Qualifications:

·  Manufacturing plant and/or production experience
·  Experience with one or more of the following: web converting, web handling, web coating, web curing & drying, extrusion & compounding
·  Experience in Abrasives manufacturing, making, and/or development.
·  Demonstrated facilitation, communication, and teaching skills
·  Experience supporting and traveling to global manufacturing sites
·  Experience leading cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines/divisions
·  Ability to thrive in a highly self-directed, accountable work group
·  Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt Project Leadership
·  Ability to engage and influence the organization

Travel:   May include up to 25% domestic and international travel
