3M is seeking a Product Engineer for the Film and Materials Resource Division (FMRD) supporting the Closure & Masking System Division (CMSD)  located in Menomonie, WI. At 3M, you can apply your talent in bold ways that matter.  Here, you go.

Job Summary :

The person hired for the position of Product Engineer will be responsible for driving continuous quality improvement, customer alignment, and scale up of products in the HSS value stream.  The engineer will support the CMSD business which produces a variety of closure products for the Personal Care business.

 Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

·  Driving manufacturing cost and product yield improvement projects
·  Leading management of change projects focused on communication, risk evaluation and execution of process and product changes
·  Supporting local manufacturing teams on rapid resolution of customer complaints; including timely response, communication and implementation of corrective actions
·  Supporting successful NPI scale up and launch of new CMSD products
·  Leading and supporting quality improvement projects in manufacturing
·  Using Lean, Six Sigma and Value stream tools to drive improvements
·  Providing manufacturing leadership and support for the manufacturing of the division's products
·  Performing capability assessments and cost estimates for new opportunities
·  Driving process development, recommend new equipment and modification to support cost improvements and new product introductions
·  Maintaining awareness of customer needs and industry trends and translate those into measurable specifications and test methods for product development and manufacturing

Basic Qualifications:  

·  Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
·  Minimum one (1) years of experience in a private, public, government or military environment in one or more of the following areas: product engineering, process engineering, project engineering, project management, and/or research laboratory

Preferred Qualifications:

·  Technical experience in polymer film extrusion, web handling, microreplication, slitting
·  Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
·  Minimum two (2) years of experience utilizing statistical tools in problem solving is preferred
·  Minimum two (2) years of experience on working in a manufacturing environment is preferred
·  Experience with Quality Improvement and Cost Reduction projects is preferred
·  Experience with unit cost modeling
·  Experience leading or participating on cross functional teams

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international
