Job Summary:

The person hired for this position will be responsible for quality programs and products of major importance to the division supporting the automotive and aerospace industry.

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

·  Assuring compliance to external regulations, customer requirements and industry standards [International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001, Aerospace Standard (AS) 9100, International Automotive Task Force (IATF) 16949].
·  Analyzing information using statistical techniques to drive data driven decisions.
·  Collaborating with cross functional teams of process owners to manage change and ensure consistent product performance that meets quality objectives.
·  Promoting continuous improvement and defect reduction through the use of quality tools [Eight Disciplines of Problem Solving (8D), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and Control Plans].
·  Reviewing complaints for timely customer feedback and resolution.
·  Supporting global customer account teams and responding to quality inquiries.
·  Aligning customer scorecard Key Performance Indicators (KPI) with internal metrics.
·  Participating in internal and external quality system audits.
·  Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

·  Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
·  Minimum of one (1) year combined quality engineering, product engineering, six sigma and/or manufacturing experience in a private, public, government or military environment

Preferred Qualifications:

·  Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Statistics or related discipline from an accredited institution
·  Minimum of three (3) years combined work experience in a Quality Engineering, Product Engineering, Six Sigma and/or Manufacturing environment
·  Automotive and Aerospace industry knowledge
·  Experience with LEAN Six Sigma methodology and use of quality/statistical tools
·  American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification such as Quality Engineer (CQE) or willingness to obtain
·  Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
·  Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
·  Strong analytical decision-making and problem-solving skills
·  Ability to lead and be a contributing member of cross functional teams

Location :  Maplewood, Minnesota

Travel:  May include up to 25% domestic and international

Relocation:   Is authorized
