Job description

Description

The Role

The role’s primary focus is the development of advanced chassis control algorithms with a focus on analytical techniques, more specifically for active and semi-active suspension controls.

Responsibilities

·  Integrating physical system models of the passive chassis components (springs, bushings, kinematics, tires, etc.) with intelligent controls through firmware of active components (including suspension control, traction control, brake controls, steering systems, etc.).
·  Designing controllers, modeling of such controllers, and further developing the algorithms in a vehicle.
·  Aide in tuning controls to verify the function of the new algorithms, to track performance changes as firmware and hardware updates are introduced, and to perform regression tests to ensure no unintentional changes occur in the development process.
·  Updating and maintaining automated simulations that exercise all aspects of dynamic behavior that are influenced by current and future control systems.
·  Working cross-functionally with a number of various groups including vehicle dynamics, vehicle modeling, firmware, and system integration.

Desired profile

Requirements

·  Knowledge in linear systems analysis, stability, and controller design.
·  Experience in vehicle dynamics, specifically handling/ride performance.
·  Simulating dynamic models of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems for actuator modeling.
·  Capable of analyzing vehicle performance in MATLAB/Simulink via modeling and data analysis
Strong communication and preference for working in teams.
·  Greater than 2 years of experience with controls system development, modeling, and implementation.
·  MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or equivalent
·  Experience in active suspension systems, brake systems (brake traction control or stability control), powertrain traction control, electric power steering, or other chassis control systems.
·  Basic experience, understanding, and intuition for the physics of electric drive-trains.
·  Experience with numerous software packages and programming languages (Dymola, C/C++, Python, Matlab/Simulink).
