Job Description

Analytical Operations (AO) department prides itself in being at the leading edge of lab automation technology. We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our team to automate analytical procedures utilizing robotic liquid handling systems and other integrated devices.

This position requires hands on assay execution and extensive use of various information tools such as Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), various analytical instrument software, ChromeleonTM, and Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN).

The associate automation engineer will maintain and improve existing automation processes and explore opportunities in order to enable wider automation implementation to improve productivity and efficiency in PTDU. In addition, s/he will train and support end users of the automated procedures.

The job requires the ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities as well as the flexibility to support analytical operations in accordance with the department goals.

Responsibilities

• Understand analytical procedures and run assays.
• Apply analytical, information and automation technologies to improve the analytical procedures and operational processes.

• Run and maintain existing automation processes in cooperation with end users and others. Prepare and maintain easy to follow instructions for equipment operating procedures.

• Educate and train end-users to operate and perform basic troubleshooting for robotic systems in the department.

• Provide troubleshooting assistance of robotic and non-robotic systems. Interact with vendor engineers to perform preventative maintenance and repairs as needed.

Requirements:

• BS or MS degree in Bio or Chemical engineering or closely related scientific field.
• Technical proficiency and experience with automation systems used in the life science industry, especially robotics and liquid handling systems such as TECAN and Hamilton.
• 2-3 years applicable analytical instrument, robotic system and software experience.
• 2-3 years in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
• Demonstrate good interpersonal skills with an ability to interact well with a variety of personalities, professional backgrounds, and educational levels to clearly communicate ideas.
• Demonstrate good organizational and time utilization skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Programming experience, an understanding of Information Technology and networking infrastructure is preferred.
