The Manager, Data Architect - Pharma R&D will be responsible for organizing, documenting and visualizing data flows, integrations and architectures to make them easily understandable. This role will be part of a global team that supports Janssen R&D Clinical Operations by providing Business Intelligence and Analytics solutions, which gives them the much-needed insights to make better decisions.

Principal responsibilities will include:
· Engage in data management and analytics projects to optimize the way data is captured from various systems, integrated and used efficiently across R&D.
· Oversee data integrations and define data warehouse architectures which optimally support the business requirements.
· Be the go-to person for information about how (and why) data flows between systems.
· Keep the overview how data is being integrated within our analytical solutions, starting from the source systems up to the data consumers. Define the process for this, as well as the required tools and testing.
· Meet with business stakeholders and other technical team members to gather and analyze application requirements, and consequently support the design, development and implementation of data and analytics capabilities.
· Evaluate and influence projects from the perspective of the entire organization. Map the systems and interfaces used to manage data, sets standards for data management, analyses current state and conceives desired future state, and the projects needed to close the gap between current state and future goals.
· Create and maintain strong partnerships within business and R&D IT and our development teams, building on trust and transparency.
· Collaborate with the Big Data architect and the build team in the design for each new analytics capability ensuring the architecture aligns with IT strategic goals and target state architecture.
· Liaise with other project teams to identify and capture opportunities, constraints, dependencies, assumptions, and risks.
· Throughout the execution of projects, meet with development team members to answer questions, clarify requirements, and review/verify the implemented solution.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

·  A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics and/or Business Administration. Advanced degree preferred.
·  A minimum of 3 years of relevant information technology experience is required.
·  Strong knowledge of data architecture is required.
·  Working knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements elicitation, system design, development and validation/regulatory requirements, is required.
·  Experience creating data representations and analytical solutions required.
·  Experience with relational databases and entity-relationship data modeling is required.
·  Experience with hierarchical data models, from conceptualization to database optimization is required.
·  Strong knowledge of data warehousing principles (e.g. Inmon vs Kimball) is required.
·  Knowledge of data governance and data harmonization is required.
·  Knowledge of data modelling techniques (e.g. 3nf) is required.
·  Knowledge of architecture (e.g. data lake, data virtualization, data warehousing, data hubs) is required.
·  Knowledge of Hadoop or related technologies preferred.
·  Experience working in a global organization is required.
·  Experience managing technology and data warehouse projects required.
·  Project experience in a comparable industrial environment is preferred.
·  Working knowledge of Pharma R&D Operations processes and technologies is preferred.
·  Must have excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues in a way that non-technical people can understand.
·  Must have strong analytical problem-solving skills.
·  The ability to collaborate with all levels of management across a matrix/cross-functional environment is preferred.
·  This position will require up to 10% domestic and international travel.
