LOCATION: Gaydon, Warwickshire
The Tooling and Pressed Parts Engineering Group is responsible for sheet metal tooling programmes, facilities and technologies for all JLR vehicles. This includes managing the design, manufacture and successful launch of tooling into JLR’s nominated press facilities.
WHAT TO EXPECT
As a Press Tooling Engineer you’ll be responsible for specification and procurement of tools, operating from the start of die design through to final commissioning and sign-off in Jaguar Land Rover’s nominated press facility. Working closely with Tooling Project Planners and and our Purchasing function to establish viable timeline and plan for assigned portfolio of Press Tools. You’ll manage process and deliver of tooling into the press facilities, ensuring compliance with performance, quality, timing and cost targets. Operating as the subject matter expert on your assigned tooling portfolio, providing regular updates against key metrics. You’ll drive the best possible outcomes by ensuring that the design phase maximises panel quality and overall hits per hour.
You’ll establish a professional relations with product design and tooling vendors to ensure robust management for engineering change with minimal impact to project outcomes. Also strive to ensure all tooling complies or exceeds with business standards as you’ll have responsibility for all aspects of panel dimension and cosmetic quality in our body construction areas. You’ll help establish and report on KPI’s with the Press Tooling Manager and ensure that any learning and improvements are shared with the function.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Experience within a Press Operations or Tooling background or having spent time in an influential role in a Manufacturing or sheet metal industry. You’ll be able to demonstrate knowledge of key processes, facilitates and technologies used throughout the press parts process chain. You must be able to show a thorough understanding of press tool design, with a good level of business acumen and an ability to deal with complex situations and offer clear navigational paths through them.
