LOCATION: Gaydon, Warwickshire

WHAT TO EXPECT

Here, you’ll design, develop and shape the future of our electronic systems by helping us find visionary developments in everything from hybrid vehicles and infotainment to advanced electronic systems integration and electrics.

Joining us as a Battery Electrical System Engineer, you’ll work in the Battery Electrical Systems team within the Battery Design and Release teams as part of the overall Powertrain Electrified Engineering group. Reporting to the Electrical System Manager, you’ll take responsibility for the delivery of the battery pack electrical and electrical control hardware components. You’ll also work with Design Engineers to ensure the CAD designs and drawings are completed with the correct level of integrity.

In your role, you’ll own the design and release of multiple parts across various battery programmes, your focus being to ensure robust timing plans are in place that achieve programme milestones and targets (quality, cost, functionality, weight and timing). You’ll develop a Statement of Requirements to support supplier sourcing and will work with the matched pair through the GSP process, develop and release updates to Engineering Specifications and lead suppliers through the design phase, procurement of prototypes and production tooling ensuring components perform to requirements.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

As the Battery Electrical System Engineer, you’ll have knowledge of typical BEV, PHEV or Lithium Ion battery system solutions and technologies, as well as an understanding of control systems hardware, including sensor technology, control software and diagnostics. It is likely you’ll have experience of defining or using appropriate analysis tools to optimise and verify thermal performance as well as hardware reliability and durability, and you’ll also have a significant track record of specifying and designing battery pack low-voltage, high-voltage and control hardware. This will also include an understanding of typical battery characteristics and protective systems required.

Finally, you’ll have a working knowledge of the design and release process along with strong people skills which will enable you to work individually as effectively as in a cross-functional team. Rounding out your skill set with excellent communication and presentation capabilities will see a successful application for this role.

BENEFITS

Bring all this to the home of premium innovation, and you’ll find the opportunities to further your career with a world-class team, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, membership of a competitive pension plan and a performance-related bonus scheme. All this and more makes Jaguar Land Rover the perfect place to continue your journey.

Jaguar Land Rover is committed to equal opportunity for all.
