Job description

JPMorgan Chase is a leading global financial services firm with operations in more than 50 countries. The Tax Department is, amongst other things, responsible for the UK Corporation Tax compliance of the UK group, including the preparation and submission of UK corporation tax returns to the UK tax authorities (HMRC) and responding to HMRC audits.  In addition to its reporting obligations to HMRC it also assists in the preparation of the UK group companies statutory accounts (tax provision and tax disclosure), together with monthly tax provisioning.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
The successful applicant will be allocated a portfolio of companies (and/or branches of overseas companies) in the UK group and be responsible for, amongst other things, the following in relation to that portfolio of companies:

·  Identification and monitoring of entities within the charge to UK corporation tax;
·  Preparation of the corporation tax computations and returns;
·  Preparation of month end procedures, including:
-          tax monthly provisions and associated tax journals;
-          year to date results schedule;
-          certification and substantiation of tax balances in the general ledger;
·  Preparation of tax provisions and tax disclosure for UK companies' statutory accounts (this will include liaising with the auditors) and associated accounting journals;
·  US tax reporting: preparation of quarterly tax packs for the New York Tax Department;
·  Preparation of the taxable profit forecasting for the UK group;
·  Manage the Group Payment Arrangement, including preparation of  and arranging payment of quarterly instalment payments;
·  Dealing with HMRC enquires and ad hoc tax queries;
·  Preparation of group relief claims and surrenders;
·  Liaising with LEC to ensure financial statements are iXBRL tagged for all relevant entities;
·         Reporting estimated, final and amended tax liabilities to the US for inclusion in the US foreign tax credit calculations.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
·  A newly qualified professional with a recognised accounting and/or tax qualification
·  A self-motivated team player who is able to prioritise and work to demanding deadlines
·  A knowledge of the UK corporation tax regime with strong tax accounting skills
·  An individual focussed on operating within and enhancing the existing tax risk and control framework
·  Experience of working in a tax department of a US investment bank an advantage
·  Experience of Alphatax and Onesource Corporation Tax software
·  Experience of SAP or CDGL an advantage
·  Excellent written and verbal skills
·  Excellent research, analytical and reasoning skills
·  Recognized accounting and/or tax qualification, e.g. ACA, CTA
