Junior Systems Engineer

Would you like to use leading edge technology, whilst evaluating future technologies? We currently have a vacancy for a Junior Systems Engineer at our site in Christchurch. For the right candidate other locations can be considered – Yeovil, Abbey Wood or Filton with regular visit to Christchurch.

As a Junior Systems Engineer, you will be working with other team members to push the limits of current technologies, bringing new bold and innovative ideas to the table. The role will involve researching and staying abreast of the latest technologies, understanding customer requirements and intentions, and pulling together technical proposals that can be turned into challenging yet achievable solutions

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work as part of a growing team, responsible for helping turn requirements into innovative and industry leading IP Network solutions.

Your main responsibilities as a Junior Systems Engineer will involve:

Developing an understanding of IP network requirements and solutions

Researching current vendors and technologies and identifying where they may be incorporated into our future solutions and services

Supporting the production of design specifications that meet the requirements for network architecture

Liaising with team members to turn design specifications into tangible supportable network solutions

Providing critical feedback to continually improve and maintain extant and development solutions

Supporting System Integration Activities

Taking the network components and making them within other systems and networks developed or managed by the projects

Completing work to a high standard, within time, budget and governance

Your skills and qualifications as a Junior Systems Engineer:

Essential:

Graduate Degree qualified in Engineering/Technology/IT/Physics or similar subject matters

Passion for technology and experimentation

Appreciation of the requirements capture and system design methodology

Knowledge of Systems Engineering or networking

Desirable:

Cisco Certification / CCNA / CCNP / Voice / Security

Knowledge/understanding of VOIP

Knowledge/understanding of VM systems

Knowledge of Defence Standards (Def-Stans) and JSP's

Knowledge of the MOOD, DOORS and System Architect tools

What we're looking for in you:

You will ideally be self-driven with excellent innovation and problem solving skills. The ability to present solutions to a wide and varied audience would be an advantage. You should have a good attention to detail, with a logical, analytical approach to your work.

Salary: £24,500 + Commensurate of experience

Location: Christchurch, Yeovil, Abbey Wood or Filton
