About the role

We are looking to add exceptional software architecture and applications researchers into ARM’s research team in Austin, TX. This new team works closely with ARM’s IoT Services organization, partners, and wider academia to identify promising nascent ideas and develop them into tomorrows key software services and technologies.

What will I be accountable for?

ARM Research plays a central role in identifying gaps in current technologies and in conducting world-leading research to fill those gaps. You will join a team responsible for defining a long-term software architectures, services, and application solutions for enabling and exploiting the future opportunities of having a trillion devices interconnected from the Internet of Things (IoT) edge to the cloud. You will be creating and delivering value to ARMs customers this through a combination of internal and external research activities. Collaborating closely with our product and services development teams, and a large network of external researchers in both industry and academia, you will have the opportunity to shape ARM expansion into this space at the early stage of development.

You will join a research team whose architecture and systems research activities cover a wide range of disciplines including mobile and laptop personal computing platforms and applications; server, cloud, and HPC computing; emerging memory technologies; interconnects; design and analysis of security protocols; safe and fault tolerant systems; large distributed networks of devices, power system and network level optimizations for performance and energy; and data analytic. If you have an established track record in one or more of these areas and have demonstrated skills of innovative research with the ability to develop original research agendas and execute projects successfully, you could be a great fit to join our team.

Job Requirements

What skills, experience, and qualifications do I need?


·  MS degree or PhD in Computer Science / Computer Engineering is preferred
·  At least 1 year experience in software services (Cloud, IoT, software defined networks, etc.) who posses a MS degree
·  PhD recent graduates with no experience.
·  Experience with technical team leadership in research or advance technology environment
·  Strong experimental methodology, evaluation and analysis skills
·  Strong software applications and architecture knowledge including:
·  IoT and Cloud services and applications development
·  IoT and big data applications
·  Data analytic on static and streaming data
·  Distributed systems and network architectures and optimization
·  Software defined networks and storage optimization and solutions
·  Workload development and analysis
·  Strong programming skills along with excellent problem-solving and debugging abilities
·  Experience with software workloads, benchmarking, and bottleneck / performance analysis
·  Recognized expertise in one or more of the key research areas of the group:
·  Experience with open source software development around cloud services
·  Server and cloud architecture
·  Network platform architecture
·  Severless / Fog compute systems
·  Virtualization and security around containers and hypervisors
·  Machine learning, computer vision, and neural networks
·  Systems software (OS, run-times, compilers)
·  Algorithms for data encryption and compression
·  Experience with software project management tools and reporting
·  Excellent networking, communication and negotiation skills
